Julien from Fut Ideal in Quebec reached out to Knockout Designs with a fun request: create custom tap handles that felt less like standard bar hardware and more like an extension of Coco Disco Club, one of their clients. Fut Ideal is known for supplying selected draft beverages to distinctive venues, and this project was all about capturing the playful, nightlife-driven personality that defines Coco Disco Club.
The request was simple but expressive. Coco Disco Club wanted a painted wooden tap handle topped with a 2-inch disco ball—an instantly recognizable symbol of dance floors, music, and late-night energy. Even though the order was small, just two unique tap handles, every design choice needed to feel intentional and on-brand. These tap handles were meant to stand out and reinforce the lively atmosphere.
The Knockout Designs team started with a cylindrical wooden tap handle shape to keep the focus on color, finish, and the disco ball topper. One tap handle was painted a vibrant blue, the other a bold orange, giving Coco Disco Club flexibility to rotate taps while maintaining a cohesive look. The high-gloss paint finish adds a smooth, modern feel and subtly reflects light bouncing off the mirrored disco ball above. On the front of each handle, we laser engraved the Coco Disco Club name, creating crisp contrast against the painted surface and ensuring the branding stays sharp and legible even in low, club-style lighting.
The disco balls were the final and defining touch. Mounted at the top of each handle, they catch and scatter light from every angle. For Fut Ideal, this project reflects their commitment to pairing the right design details with the right client, regardless of order size. These two custom tap handles prove that even a small run can make a big statement.
