Laura, the owner of Saddle Mountain Brewing in Goodyear, Arizona, reached out to Knockout Designs with the request for custom distribution tap handles that represented the desert landscape that surrounds her brewery. Saddle Mountain Brewing is built on a foundation of community and craftsmanship and Laura wanted custom tap markers that would translate those values in bars throughout Arizona. The laser engraved wooden tap handles needed to stand out in busy locations while still feeling authentic to the Saddle Mountain identity.
During the design process, the Knockout Designs team explored several concepts together, looking at shapes, materials, and finishes that would best represent the brand for their distribution tap handles. Laura liked our dark wooden hexagon shaped tap handle. The bold, geometric form felt authentic, similar to the rugged lines of the surrounding desert terrain and the iconic presence of Saddle Mountain itself. The hexagon shaped wooden tap handles also provided a contemporary edge while maintaining a timeless feel, making it a natural fit for Saddle Mountain Brewing’s aesthetic.
Knockout Designs used dark-stained natural wood. Using precision laser engraving, the Saddle Mountain name was put on both the front and back of the tap handle, ensuring it would be clearly visible from any angle behind the bar. To add an extra layer of detail, Knockout Designs laser engraved the brewery’s logo onto the slanted top surface, creating a subtle but impactful design element.
As Saddle Mountain Brewing continues to expand across bars and restaurants, consistency was essential. Producing 200 identical custom designed tap handles ensured that every location featuring Saddle Mountain brews would present the brand with the same look. Each tap handle was designed to feel solid and comfortable in a bartender’s hand while remaining recognizable to customers. The finished custom tap handles reflect Saddle Mountain Brewing’s dedication to quality beer, thoughtful design, and steady growth throughout Arizona.
